Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step 2: Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
Step 3: Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Step 2: Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
Step 3: Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Step 4: Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Sift together the flour, salt and baking soda; set aside.
Step 2: Cream together the butter, sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla and milk. Add the flour mixture; mix well. Shape into 40 balls and place each into an ungreased mini muffin pan.
Step 3: Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press a mini peanut butter cup into each ball. Cool and carefully remove from pan.
